Pankaj Udhas biography

Pankaj Udhas was born on 17th May, 1951, in Jetpur, near Rajkot, Gujarat. He was born to a family of Zamindars (landlords). His elder brother Manhar Udhas was already doing stage performances when Pankaj thought of doing the same.

He joined the Sangeet Natya Academy in Rajkot and here he learned to play the tabla.

In 1962, when he was 11 years old, he publicly performed the song “Ae mere watan ke logo” in a Navratri event, which was well appreciated by the public. One of the listener awarded him with Rs.51. By 1969 he started to sing ghazals. His first album was released in 1980 named “Ahat”.

Until now, he has released more than 40 albums.
